Description:

This package covers bradycardia and blocks, updates on atrial fibrillation, pearls, and pitfalls associated with cardiology, as well as other risk factors and management of cardiac devices.

Learning Objectives:

On completion of this library, you will gain a further understanding of:

• Understand the presentation of bradycardia and blocks
• Recognize whether the block is stable or unstable, whether it is narrow or wide, and whether it is sinus or not sinus.
• Learn some bradycardia and blocks pearls
• Learn the five steps in the treatment of ED patients who present with either new AFib/Flutter or AFib with RVR Learn the five routine tests for all new AFib/Flutter patients and know which additional tests to consider
• Know when to focus on rhythm control and when to focus on rate control
• Learn the five major causes of Atrial Fibrillation
• Learn pearls and pitfalls associated with treatment of patients presenting to the ED after having a heart transplant
• Learn how to recognize acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in the left bundle branch block (LBBB) with the Modified Sgarbossa Criteria
• Learn pearls and pitfalls associated with the presentation, recognition, and management of atrial fibrillation in patients with critical illness
• Differentiate between syncope and falls in the elderly
• Recognize the difference between near syncope and syncope
• Describe syncope in pediatric patients

• Discuss risk-stratification tools
• Discuss cardiac devices and understand what they are supposed to do and the ways they may go awry
• Review basic components of pacers and typical ECG findings of normal pacer function
