Description:

This package covers pregnant patients who are also victims of trauma, are delivering in emergency situations as well as problems and issues that occur frequently during pregnancy and postpartum.

Learning Objectives:

On completion of this library, you will gain a further understanding of:

• Understand physiological changes in pregnancy
• Discuss stabilization, management, evaluation, and disposition of pregnant trauma victims
• Discuss protocols for maternal and fetal monitoring following obstetrical trauma
• Become more comfortable with OB trauma
• Discuss the equipment necessary for an emergency delivery
• Review how to decide which patients stay and which ones go
• Discuss how much help you need and from whom
• Describe what kinds of things can go wrong with an emergency delivery
• Describe pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Differentiate between pre-eclampsia and eclampsia and discuss treatment of various forms of both
• Discuss postpartum hemorrhage and infections and describe treatments of both
• Describe perimortem C-section and pulmonary embolism in pregnant patients, as well as discuss treatment
• Discuss UTI and treatment for UTI in pregnant patients.
• Describe peripartum cardiomyopathy and treatment
