Webinar title: Implementation Guidance on Transitioning to Midwifery Models of Care
The World Health Organization (WHO) released a position statement on midwifery-led mode of care in 2024. Evidence has shown that more than 60% of all maternal and newborn deaths, including stillbirths, could be averted if the midwifery-led model of care is fully implemented by 2035. To support countries in accelerating the implementation of the midwifery-led model of care, the WHO has recently published the implementation guidance for the midwifery-led model of care. Over 90 stakeholders from both low and middle-income countries participated in drafting this implementation guidance. All governments and stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Midwifery-led model of care should utilize this document to guide their work. This webinar aims to break down some of the key components of the implementation guidance in an easy-to-understand way for health workers, managers, leaders, midwives, and all stakeholders in the maternal and newborn health care spaces.
