Webinar Title: Paediatric Prescribing
This webinar aims at strengthening pharmacists’ competencies in clinical, hospital, and public health practice. The session will focus on safe and rational prescribing practices in pediatric populations, with emphasis on dosing accuracy, formulation considerations, and prevention of medication errors in children.

Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants must be able to;
  1. Describe key principles of Paediatric pharmacotherapy and prescribing.
  2. Discuss challenges associated with Paediatric dosing formulations and off-label medicine use.
  3. Highlight common medication errors in Paediatric medicine use.
  4. Discuss the role of pharmacists in promoting safe Paediatric medicine use.
  5. Share best practices and relevant local or international experiences in Paediatric.

 

Speaker: Mrs Chikhulupiliro Chimwaza Yiwombe

Chikhulupiliro Chimwaza Yiwombe is a pharmacy specialist and Antimicrobial Stewardship expert working with the Ministry of Health in Malawi. She has a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors) from the Malawi College of Medicine (now KUHES) and a Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy from University College London in the UK. She is an alumnus of the Fleming Fund Fellowship with the University of Edinburgh and is a certified Surveillance Epidemiologist in AMR.
She currently heads the pharmacy department at Kamuzu Central Hospital. She has carved out a dynamic career in the civil service that has seen her work in digital health systems implementation, supply chain data analytics and antimicrobial resistance.
