This course generally covers the definition, techniques, how and when to practice hand hygiene. Maintaining good hygiene level is important for staying healthy and avoiding diseases. Many illnesses can be contracted by touching certain surfaces, passing on bacteria or viruses that has been deposited on the surfaces. This is one of the many reasons hand hygiene is crucial to prioritize especially within health care settings where there could be an increased risk to patients and staff comparably. All across the world, diseases contracted while obtaining medical care claim thousands of lives every day. While providing healthcare, hands are the primary means of spreading germs. For this reason, maintaining good hand hygiene is vital among health workers to prevent diseases associated with healthcare and the spread of bacteria or viruses.
