The Role of Disinfectants in Combating AMR

Hosted & Sponsored by:

Webinar Title: The Role of Disinfectants in Combating AMR

This webinar is aimed at strengthening pharmacists’ and healthcare professionals’ capacity in infection prevention and control, as well as addressing the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Antimicrobial resistance remains a significant global and national public health concern, threatening the effectiveness of medicines and increasing the burden of infectious diseases. While much focus has been placed on antimicrobial use, the role of disinfectants in infection prevention, environmental control, and the containment of resistant microorganisms is equally critical.
This session will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the appropriate use of disinfectants, their impact on microbial resistance, and their role within broader antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention strategies.

Speaker: Mr Anup Panchal

Anup Panchal is a registered pharmacist in Malawi. He has practiced pharmacy for more than 30 years, of which 27 years of experience are in Malawi. He has been head of the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit for 17 years. Currently, Panchal is in the marketing of disinfectants, rehabilitation products, cold chain equipment, radiology equipment, and weighing balances, among others, while working on the development of pharmaceuticals’ portfolio.
