Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites of the genus Plasmodium. Transmission: Spread through the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. Impact: Affects millions each year, primarily in tropical and subtropical regions.

Speaker: Dr David Matthew
Dr David Matthew is a medical doctor and a certified clinical pharmacologist with a master’s in public health. He has sound research experience from the Center for Advanced Medical and Training, Disease Surveillance and Notification Program, and as a Lead researcher in formulating equitable and sustainable Healthcare Policy for malaria prevention and control in Kebbi state. Also, his years of working experience with the Government and humanitarian sector (NGO) have provided him with a myriad of experience in patient management, monitoring and evaluation of illness, follow-up, coordination, and supervision.

Objectives:

  1. Rapid and effective treatment: Provide prompt and effective treatment to reduce morbidity and mortality.
  2. Eliminate parasites: Eliminate Plasmodium parasites from the patient’s body to prevent further transmission.
  3. Relieve symptoms: Relieve symptoms such as fever, chills, and flu-like symptoms to improve patient comfort.
  4. Prevent complications: Prevent complications such as cerebral malaria, anemia, and organ failure.
  5. Reduce transmission: Reduce transmission of malaria by treating infected individuals and preventing further spread of the disease.
