Mental health is one of the important aspects of human well-being. This webinar aims at enhancing understanding on mental health. Specifically, we will look at stress, depression, grief, self-care, and managing work life balance.

Speaker: Ms Tabitha Msukunika – St John of God Hospitaller Services, Malawi – Addiction Recovery Programmes Coordinator

Tabitha is an Addiction Specialist, currently working with St John of God Hospitaller Services Malawi as a coordinator for Addiction Recovery Programmes. For over 13 years, Tabitha has led community mental health care services including addiction rehabilitation, trained various stakeholders in mental wellness and contributed to the development of Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) Mental Wellness Policy in 2021. She has received awards in leadership mental health care services and won €12,000.00 SJOG Research Foundation SEED Funding Ireland for Malawi gambling research in 2023. Tabitha holds a university certificate in Midwifery and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the Kamuzu College of Nursing, Malawi and a Master’s degree in Addiction Studies from the Kings College London, UK.

Objectives:

  1. Raise Awareness on Mental Health Issues – Educate pharmacy professionals on stress, depression, and grief, their causes, and their impact on daily life.
  2. Promote Self-Care Practices – Equip participants with effective self-care strategies to enhance mental well-being.
  3. Provide Coping Mechanisms – Share practical tools and techniques for managing stress, burnout, and emotional distress in a high-pressure work environment.
  4. Foster Work-Life Balance – Guide attendees on how to maintain a healthy balance between professional duties and personal life to prevent burnout.
  5. Encourage Open Conversations on Mental Health – Reduce stigma and promote help-seeking behaviours within the healthcare profession.
