Improving outcomes for patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia in the Medical ICU utilizing the A3 Quality Improvement Process for evidence-based interventions, meaningful metrics, planning, evaluation, and continuous development/implementation.

I am a nurse practitioner and educator. My professional areas of interest include managing critically ill patients, improving patient and population outcomes, expanding nursing practice, elevating nursing’s role in healthcare, interprofessional practice, and working in resource-limited settings. I am credentialled for clinical practice and education, including AGACNP, FNP, CNE, and CNEac board certifications. My critical care and clinical teaching practice is based at the University of California, San Francisco, but I have worked in a variety of settings in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and the First Nations of the United States.

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Participants will be able to articulate the purpose of the A3 Quality improvement process.
  • Participants will be able to identify the tools needed to implement an A3 Quality Improvement project
  • Participants will understand how to use the tools needed to carry out an A3 Quality Improvement project
