WCEA and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) have partnered to provide education on tobacco cessation for Nurse Practitioners (NPs). AANP is committed to delivering evidence-based, clinically rigorous education that empowers NPs to provide the highest quality of patient care.
Our Tobacco Cessation course exemplifies this standard by equipping nurse practitioners with the knowledge and skills to manage tobacco use disorder as the chronic, relapsing condition it is.
Learners examine the neurobiology of nicotine addiction, disparities across populations, and up-to-date best practices in screening, counseling, and pharmacotherapy. The course emphasizes the 5 A’s model, motivational interviewing, empathic communication, and guideline-aligned treatment, including combination therapy with varenicline and nicotine replacement.
About AANP: The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) is the largest professional membership organization for NPs of all specialties, dedicated to advancing high-quality health care through excellence in practice, education, advocacy, and research. Through strategic partnerships and innovative learning opportunities, AANP ensures nurse practitioners remain at the forefront of clinical practice. As a trusted leader in NP education, AANP is committed to elevating the profession and improving health outcomes around the world.
