The talk focuses mainly on the multi-organ involvement of sickle cell disease (SCD)/ sickle cell anaemia (SSA) as well as awareness and screening of the disease complications. A brief overview of transfusion therapy and other therapeutic modalities in the management of sickle cell anaemia will be
undertaken.

Dr Garrick Laudin complete his registrar training as a specialist physician at the University of Pretoria where he also completed his masters (MMED) in internal medicine. He is currently a fellow in Clinical Haematology at the Zakithi Nkosi Clinical Haematology Centre of Excellence located at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Johannesburg (South Africa).
