The 5th of May 2021 is International Day of the Midwife. This year’s theme is “Follow the Data, Invest in Midwives”.
A report (Published in December 2020 in The Lancet – Global Health), has the following findings:

We estimated that, relative to current coverage, a substantial increase in coverage of midwife-delivered interventions could avert 41% of maternal deaths, 39% of neonatal deaths, and 26% of stillbirths, equating to 2·2 million deaths averted per year by 2035.
WCEA is proud to support International Midwives Day. Over the past year, we trained over 106, 000 midwives in low resource countries and delivered over 480,000 certifications.
