New Prevention Training for Pharmacy Providers Learning Path Available Now

In collaboration with Jhpiego, we are pleased to announce the arrival of the learning path “HIV Prevention Training for Pharmacy Providers in Kenya – Oral Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and HIV Testing Services (HTS)”, which is available now on the WCEA learning platform.

In Kenya, private pharmacies fill an important gap in the healthcare system.Due to their convenience, privacy, and focus on customer satisfaction, private pharmacies may be a desirable HIV prevention services access point for populations unwilling or unable to access services at public health facilities.

This learning path offers guidance for Pharmacy Providers through three individual courses, which are:

How to Conduct HIV Testing Services
The HIV Testing Services (HTS) Course offers guidance on how HTS should be conducted in different settings in Kenya, and has been adapted from the Kenya HTS Orientation Package (2021). This course is targeted towards healthcare workers providing HIV services, who have completed previous trainings on HIV prevention, care and treatment, including: Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists/pharmaceutical technologists, Clinical officers, Nursing officers and any other relevant healthcare worker providing HIV services.

Oral Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
The Oral PrEP eLearning Tool for Clinicians course provides instructions for managing PrEP services in accordance with the information in the WHO Implementation Tool for Pre-exposure Prophylaxis of HIV Infection. The course is for practicing clinicians around the globe who currently have a client population at high-risk for contracting HIV and provide or will provide oral PrEP.

Management of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
This module provides guidance on the management of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) in accordance with the Kenya HIV Prevention and Treatment Guidelines 2022 Edition, and targets healthcare workers providing HIV prevention, care and treatment services.
